| 1:30 pm - 5:20 pm Practical Dental Techniques |
| Advances in periodontal therapy offer the clinician/client/patient the opportunity to restrict, resolve, and sometimes reverse the progression of periodontal disease. This laboratory focuses on non-surgical and surgical approaches to periodontal therapies and principles of guided tissue regeneration (GTR). Participants in this lab will rotate among 3 teaching stations to practice dental techniques and procedures. The following is covered in the lab:
Extraction of teeth; evaluate teeth, learn pain management considerations, gingival flap preparation, multi-root sectioning, site finishing/closure, how to handle complications and alternate methods of extractions (modified extraction technique)
Advanced periodontal therapy; non-surgical - learn to perform closed root planing and subgingival curettage, and use of perioceutics. Surgical periodontal therapy will cover gingival flap therapy, open root planing, repositioned flaps and GTR modalities.
