This session offers a discussion of the classic feline ocular diseases. Corneal sequestration and eosinophilic keratitis will be discussed in detail. Other ocular problems unique to cats are bullous keratopathy and intraocular posttraumatic fibrosarcomas.

Basic handling pens, alleyways and fences will be reviewed in this presentation. Hydraulic chutes and techniques to help avoid bottlenecks and reduce risk of injury to handlers will be discussed. Routine vaccination schedules and parasite control will also be covered. Fertility programs will be reviewed including cycling, nutritional effects on conception, semen collection and freezing.

Because of the unique make-up of the avian respiratory system, special considerations must be given to devising treatment plans. This session will review the avian respiratory tract and discuss avian respiratory diseases commonly encountered in wildlife and the corresponding recommended treatment regimens.
8:00 pm - 8:50 pm      Interpreting Avian Hematology: From Blood Cells to Hemoparasites
A brief discussion of the various in-house methods of determining an estimated white blood cell count will be followed with a review of avian leukocyte, erythrocyte and thrombocyte morphologies. Hemoparasites commonly encountered in wildlife medicine will also be discussed.
9:00 pm - 9:50 pm      Managing Wild Mammals
Recommended quarantine procedures, safety precautions, equipment, caging and prophylactic vaccinations and deworming schedules for mammals that are commonly seen at wildlife hospitals will be discussed. These patients include foxes, raccoons, coyotes, squirrels and rabbits.

A search of the current literature on neoplasia in exotic small mammals will be discussed. Commonly diagnosed neoplasias and single case reports will be reviewed.

This session will discuss common respiratory conditions and typical clinical presentations in exotic small mammals. Recommended diagnostic methods and interpretation of these diagnostics will be presented, along with appropriate in-hospital and at-home treatment regimens.
