This session will outline principles of successful behavioral case management, building on the foundation of traditional veterinary case management and emphasizing a rational approach. Key concepts will include: defining the nature and context of behavior problems, behavioral assessment as an extension of the physical exam, what to write on the master problem list, creating a behavior plan, and assessing treatment outcomes. Learning aids will include assessment materials, brief videos, and case examples showcasing military working dogs.

This session will address several core medical and behavioral treatment options available to veterinary practitioners for the management of problem behaviors, with an emphasis on rational choice of an approach.
