SWVS provides more than 350 hours of continuing education (CE) courses for practitioners, veterinary students, technicians, vet tech students, practice managers, office staff and hospital personnel. Presentation formats include lecture sessions, evening sessions, and interactive labs. The following specialty areas are included on the program:

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT INFORMATION
During the general symposium, a maximum of 31 credit hours are available. Additional credit hours are available as listed below. DVMs licensed in Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas may claim an additional two hours by visiting the Exhibit Hall. Please refer to your state veterinary medical licensing board for specific continuing education allowances and requirements.

It is the individual’s responsibility to maintain continuing education records and submit as required.

 

CE VERIFICATION PROCEDURES FOR DVMs AND TECHNICIANS
Three simple steps are required to obtain the SWVS CE Certificate of Completion. To obtain CE certification, all DVMs and Technicians should:

  1. CHECK IN – Upon your arrival at the Dallas Convention Center, check in at the Bag pick-up station (badge will be swiped to verify attendance)
  2. TRACK YOUR ATTENDANCE – Use the CE Checklist provided to record your attendance at each session you attend.
  3. PICK UP A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION – at the end of the Symposium stop by the CE desk in the registration area to obtain your certificate of completion. 

Maintain these records in your files (CE Checklist and Certificates of Completion)

General Symposium attendance hours...............................31 credit hours

General Symposium CE hours by day:

Thursday, October 2 ................................................................3 CE hours
Friday, October 3......................................................................11 CE hours
Saturday, October 4.................................................................11 CE hours
Sunday, October 5 ...................................................................6 CE hours

Additional CE hours available:

Design Conference..................................................................13.5 CE hours for both days

Attendees are advised to check with licensing boards for the number of hours allowed for practice management/non-science.

Pet First Aid Instructor Development Workshop ................. 4 credit hours
This workshop is for RVTs, CVAs, and other veterinary professionals

Exhibit Hall..................................................................................2 CE hours

DVMs licensed in Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas may claim 2 hours of CE credit for time spent in the Exhibit Hall.

Meet the Expert Luncheons…………………….........................1 CE hour each, ticket is required
