SWVS Visionary Award

The Southwest Veterinary Symposium Visionary of the Year Award is presented to an individual who is recognized by the profession and is actively engaged in private, public, or corporate veterinary practice whose contributions elevate the standards and goals of veterinary medicine. Selection criteria is based on contributions to the profession that include veterinary practice, continuing education, publications, public education and civic activities. Nominations are submitted from the five SWVS partner state VMAs and the SWVS Awards Committee selects the winner. The recipient is presented the award at the DVM Alumni/Veterinary Student Reception on Saturday evening. The Awards Committee will accept only nominations received by Friday, July 27, 2012, for consideration. Nominations can be submitted online.

LTC Daniel Holland, DVM Memorial Scholarship

About the Scholarship
The annual scholarship covers registration, travel and lodging to Southwest Veterinary Symposium (SWVS). The scholarship recipient for 2013 is selected by the Awards Committee and will be announced at SWVS 2012.

Nomination
Submit the form onine no later than July 27, 2012. You may also print the form or get it from the partner state VMA offices. Mail or fax a hard copy to SWVS if not submitting online.

Supporting the Scholarship
SWVS works in conjunction with the five partner state VMA Foundations. Your donations are welcomed by placing a check in the mail payable to the LTC Daniel Holland, DVM Memorial Scholarship Fund and sending to SWVS or contribute when you register for the Symposium.

Criteria for Selection

  • Must be a graduate from a college of veterinary medicine within the past five years,
  • Actively engaged in veterinary medicine involving food animal or mixed animal emphasis, or;
  • Engaged in public health, nation building or food security programs.
